Established in 1965, Horizons is a youth development and empowerment organization. Located in San Francisco, it serves youth between the age of 12 to 26. The organization protects the adolescents from gang affiliation, neighborhood violence, developmental delays, poor academic performance, and arrests. Horizons offers employment and entrepreneurship and female focused programs. Its mission urban arts program offers daily group courses in visual arts, crafts, theater, poetry, music, dance, martial arts, and recreation activities. Additionally, the organization offers a substance abuse treatment program that includes individual, group and family counseling and case management. It also runs programs, such as young women rise and females against violence.
