Provided by YP.comAs parents we want the best for our children as they grow from infant to toddler to kindergartner and so on, but I also have the perspective that we are constantly learning as parents - how can we be better each day as parents because we've never done this parent thing before either. With that in mind, Montessori Children's Center and the women that lead and teach here, are helping us grow/improve as parents in addition to committing themselves to helping my daughter grow as a child. Our daughter is in her second year at MCC and our family loves this school and feel fortunate we found it. I regularly witness my daughter blow a kiss and brightly bid goodbye with an 'I love you' to the MCC teachers and her many friends. I recommend MCC to families seeking a preschool in the Sunset, West Portal, Noe Valley, Daly City, Ingleside, SF State, Park Merced area of the Bay.
Beyond the Montessori approach for core learning, MCC is rooted in plenty of opportunity for play and social development. The program delivers a top notch offering of music, singing, dancing, cultural exchange, nature, gardening, imaginary play, cooking, arts & crafts, exposure to foreign languages and American Sign Language.
As a parent, I never imagined I'd have the challenge of having to talk my daughter into enjoying a 'summer vacation' instead of crying because she wasn't going to school for a few months this summer, but that's what we experienced (*MCC does offer a summer program for families seeking 12-months of continuous preschool).
In addition to our daughter's love for MCC, I've enjoyed my interaction with other MCC families, a diverse group of dedicated parents. Several of the parents were students of MCC founder/current director Judith Flynn and now are experiencing their own kids attending the school. The school leadership is dedicated to the children they serve, the community and again the parents -- they issue a monthly newsletter, organize parent/child evenings, parent only sessions with guest speakers and informative topics, special events (holiday performances and celebrations, visits from the symphony, zoo mobile etc.), picture day, parent conferences and office hours. They have an extensive library of books open to families. They offer opportunities for families to participate in cultural/ethnic exchange which has been amazing.
I can't say enough about Montessori Children's Center and I look forward to my daughter's remaining several years at the school as well as sending my younger daughter next year when she turns two.
