The Oakes Children's Center works to develop the independence and self-awareness of developmentally delayed and emotionally disturbed children. It administers a variety of therapeutic and educational programs for students. The center provides various educational services, including individualized curriculum planning, speech and language therapy, computer training, life skills, specialized reading instruction and swimming. The Oakes Children's Center also offers after-school and recreational programs. It administers training programs through seminars, hands-on experience and professional supervision to graduate and undergraduate students from several San Francisco area universities and professional schools. Additionally, the center provides a day treatment program that features crisis intervention, psychological assessment and creative arts therapy services. The Oakes Children's Center is located in San Francisco.
