Provided by YP.comWOW! My new fiance and I (we had got engaged that day) went here to celebrate on the evening of our engagement. We each had a 5 course meal, in total 10 different dishes. The service was absolutely amazing and the food was even better. We both left feeling full, but not too full, but completely satisfied. We had: ahi tuna appetizer, roast maine lobster, herb crusted lamb, filet of beef, seared sea bass, cheese plate, pumpkin soup, pear tart tartini, bananas flambe, and chocolate souffle. We also got 2 glasses of champagne. Since we were also celebrating his birthday, they gave us a little lemon mousse cake with a candle and sent us home with a pumpkin bread wrapped up to-go.
Absolutely a must do if you're in SF. Worth all the money we paid. Only complaint is that you sit fairly close to other tables, so you don't really have much privacy.

Provided by YP.comMy favorite restaurant of all time! The food is amazing, but beyond that the service is impecable. Seriously, the waiters just come over the minute you need anything, you look up and someone is right there! We go here at least once a year, and I love the choice between 3, 4, or 5 courses and choices in each course. Enough members of my family are pescatarian/vegetarian/paleo/dairy-free that we can only go to places that have options, no fixed price for us:)

Provided by YP.comI want to be able to give this place five stars...really I do. I mean the decor is exquisite, the wait staff is welcoming and super attentive, and Restaurant Gary Danko is among the best that San Francisco has to offer in terms of fine dining.
And don't get me wrong - the dining is truly fine, what with the amazing selection of courses, offering everything from caviar service to a table side cheese cart service, and an amazing array of appetizers, entrees and desserts in between.
Problem is, like the other reviewer, I'm allergic to many of the ingredients used in the preparation in many of their dishes. And to enjoy any one of them without major modifications would no doubt end in a trip to the ER.
I was delighted to read that Gary Danko's menu is available online, and I was thrilled to learn that I could download and print it so that I could try to make my choices ahead of time, which even in advance was difficult to do since there's so much I cannot eat.
Still, I was able to safely enjoy the Striped Bass, which was served with a delicious Potato-Chorizo Risotto - a delight as I especially love the flavor of chorizo. I also enjoyed selections from the cheese cart, and topped off my evening with the lemon souffle, served with a blackberry sauce. I'm not a huge fan of blackberries, but along with the lemon, this dessert knocked my socks off.
All in all, you've got to try this place at least once. More than that might be a bit hard on the wallet, but then again, I'm a frequent visitor to the SF area, so I'll be sure to try to work this place in on future scheduled trips.
Oh - and be sure to use the online reservation service. Right now there's like a two-month wait!

Provided by YP.comFrom the decor - replete with tasteful opulence - to the menu - an epicure's delight, Gary Danko delivers, and delivers well. The service is stellar - really and truly first class - and the food - well, keep reading.
As a foodie with food allergies - wine, shellfish, mushrooms and chocolate chief among them - it's always an adventure to contemplate the menus of some of the finest establishments around.
No longer able to sift through and pick out the things that may inspire a sudden attack of anaphylaxis, I am loathe to bother the wait staff with my many maladies, and if a menu is available online, I try hard to make my choices in advance so that I my keep my questions to a minimum as not to detract from the opulence of the experience for myself or my dining partners.
So while I did not fare well with the appetizer menu, you can imagine my delight at finding the Horseradish Crusted Salmon Medallion with Dilled Cucumbers on the online menu. Better still, I was able to watch a flash demo of how the dish was prepared, which assured me that there were no ingredients that I could not safely enjoy.
This, along with a selection of fresh and fragrant cheeses and a simple dessert of sorbet, rounded out my sumptuous meal on the night I was lucky enough to visit in person. Every bite of my entree erupted in an explosion of tastes that I'm sure to enjoy again on my next visit to San Francisco's Gary Danko.
