Equal parts history, hilarity, and conveyor of the heebie jeebie, Christian is a showman of the first order and worth experiencing the tour alone. His love and knowledge of some of the more obscure historical figures (and their parts in the creepy-but-true narrative of this city's formative years) is vast and enjoyably illustrated. Dressed for the part, lantern hanging from hand, our fearless guide walks and talks the past into the present. And though no specters appeared, or no spirits channeled their desperate - though cryptic pleas from the shadow world to ours, the hairs on the back of the neck would prickle, if you remembered these stories were true and you are standing on the scene a hundred years or so later. If you love architecture and eschew the spooky angle, the stroll through quiet, moonlit Pacific Heights is a treat within itself. This tour should be a must do on anyone's list for things to do in San Fran. Family friendly and super fun!
