Dr. Javed grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She attended the University of Oklahoma, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and a minor in ethnocultural anthropology. After undergrad, she moved to Fort Worth, Texas to pursue a master’s in clinical research and biostatistics at the University of North Texas Sciences Center. During her studies there, she had the opportunity to work for the CDC in the maternal and child health department. Thanks to a report she wrote while working there, she helped improve procedures at the Mississippi Head Start program by making more efficient in identifying at-risk children under age 5. She also spent time working with the Bi-National Health Program, which provided free medical and public health services to cities on the Texas-Mexico border. It was during her time in Mexico that she decided to become a physician. In 2004, Dr. Javed moved to the Bay Area to study at the California School of Podiatric Medicine in Oakland on a four-year scholarship. She graduated with her DPM and earned the Phillip Gardner Award for Excellence in Podiatric Medicine. Her residency training took place at VA Palo Alto Hospital and Stanford Hospital, with an emphasis on diabetic foot care, limb salvage, and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. Dr. Javed continues to pursue research and publication. She also serves as an adjunct clinical professor at the Veteran’s Hospital in San Francisco, where she teaches students, interns, and residence in a full capacity clinic. She lives in Union City with her husband and two children. She enjoys reading, traveling, and spending weekends in local parks, watching her kids play in this great California sunshine!
