I have been going to Grande's for over 30 years. In that time period it has gone through 3 sets of owners. Each version had it's own flare, but in the current iteration it is still a great place to go for lunch or a casual dinner within site of San Jose State Universities Boccardo Gate at the corner of San Carlos and 4th St. The new owners have changed the menu a bit, and have really jazzed up the outside seating area to include a privacy wall and fountains. They make fabulous pizzas, calzones and scacciatas and a variety of Italian dishes including egg plant parmesan that are reasonably priced. The calamari and cheese sticks are favorites as is the Grande Burger (formerly the Super Burger) one of the best that you will find near campus. The staff are friendly and attentive and will accommodate you if you need to hurry things along to make the next class. A definite 4 out of 5 for San Jose casual eating joints. 11/09
