While I patronized this small store for the past year or so, I can no longer recommend the establishment.



Just over a week ago, I purchased 9 neon tetras from the shop. I noted that there was at least 1 tetra in the tank that was dead and another that did not look active enough (last judgement was by the proprietor who was trying to catch it in the tank). I should have held off purchasing the school of neons at that point, but given the good nature of my past experiences with the store, I went ahead with my purchase.



Within three days, 3 of the neons died. In another four days all 9 of the neons died. I suspect her batch had the "neon tetra syndrome", an infection that ultimately leads to all tetras dying within the same tank. Despite having a voice recording from her after I first notified of the 3 that died, when I visited her, she reneged on the promise to make good on the purchase and started accusing me that instead of her bad batch, my tank is probably infected. For the record, I have several other fishes in my planted tank including a beta and cherry shrimps that are very healthy and thriving.



I had sought out this independent store in place of chain stores such as Pet Smart, which I know guarantees their fish purchase for up to 14 days. This transaction really soured me and I will not go back to Tropical Fish International; I will rather rely on reliability of guarantee at the chain store.

This lady is a jewel! Her fish are outstanding .
