Dr. Naides is a board-certified internist with subspecialty certification in rheumatology. He attended Princeton University and the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Dr. Naides received his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University in biochemistry. He received his M.D. from Hahnemann University/Drexel University. Next, he trained in Internal Medicine at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and at Temple University. Dr. Naides completed fellowships in rheumatology at the University of California, San Diego, and in immunology research at Harvard Medical School. After completing his medical education, Dr. Naides joined the Medicine faculty, Division of Rheumatology, University of Iowa where he started as an Assistant Professor and eventually became a tenured Associate Professor. While at the University of Iowa, Dr. Naides became the founding Director of the interdisciplinary Helen C. Levitt Center for Viral Pathogenesis and Disease. He subsequently was Professor of Medicine, Microbiology & Immunology, and Pharmacology at The Pennsylvania State University/Milton S. Hershey Medical Center where he held the Hallowell Endowed Chair, was Chief of Rheumatology, and Co-Director of the Immunobiology Graduate Program. His extramurally supported basic and translational research has focused on viral pathogenesis and autoimmunity, specifically studying parvovirus infection and parvovirus-cell interactions. Dr. Naides, who joined Quest Diagnostics Nichols Institute as medical director in 2006, oversees R&D and esoteric operations in Immunology.
