Sorry to hear the negative reviews of Cheap Thrills, but this listing is for their conjoined twin, Captain Nemo's.

The staff over on the Nemo's side are friendly, although not all of them know everything about all of the niche things they're selling (understandably). Just gotta look out for the geeky guys who are into whatever you're into if you're going to Captain Nemo's.

Yes, I agree...

I live, work and go to school in SLO. The previous review that I just read does not surprise me. I know that my friends have been ripped off at this store too! Shame on Cheap Thrills! BooBoo Records is much better anyways.

Dishonest Staff...

I went in to trade in some CD's and DVD's for buyers credit. The stuff that I was trading in was late release and in high demand, items that sell well. I had counted my items before I took them into the store and was with my 2 children that also witnessed the number of items that we were going to trade in. I had 28 CDs and 16 DVDs. The clerk that was in charge that day of the "trade-ins" took a long time to perform this simple count. In fact, he kept telling us that is was "going to be awhile before he could get to it" and for us to just "look around the store"... while he figured out the total. We took his advise and check around the store for some new movies and maybe a game for the kids. After 5 minutes of looking around the clerk came and told us that the total trade in value would be $45.00 for everything. I though OK $600.00 worth of stuff for $45.00, wow not much re-sale on this stuff, oh well.

I asked to see his total sheet that he used to calculate the value of each item. He reluctantly showed it to me and it was very messy and there was NO WAY I could tell what the total for each item was or how much he was giving me for each item. This store uses these sheets to add up total number and total value of each item. In fact, if these are filled out correctly these sheet would be great. However, sadly this dishonest clerk kept crossing off $ numbers and item count numbers in such a way that there was no way to tell. In short, everything on the sheet was a total mess. Further, I asked for a copy and he would not give me a copy even if I proceeded to traded in all the stuff. His responce was that "this is the stores paperwork and we do not give copies" I asked then why is the form that you use multi-part, is not one of those copies for me? The answer was NO! I checked his totals and they were way off! He had counted only 21 CDs and 11 DVDs. I asked to speak to a manager and he told me that he was the manager. I left with the kids and could hardly believe that this person was working in a store like this ripping people off. In all fairness, I can't say that everything was bad about the store as the inventory there was good. But be real careful of the staff because this guy was very dishonest!

I will never go into that store again.
