The San Luis Obispo County Office of Education supports the work of local school districts; delivers specialized educational services and programs; and fosters community partnerships. It conducts special classes for students with severe emotional problems that interfere with their learning. The office offers an autism program that includes assessment, instruction and consultation for children with autism spectrum disorders. The San Luis Obispo County Office of Education also offers assessment, instruction, consultation and support services for students with hearing impairments. It provides occupational therapy services in the areas of fine and gross motor skills, postural stability and self-care skills development. In addition, the office offers several educational services, including English Language Learners and bilingual programs, as well as academic programs in language arts, history, and visual and performing arts.
