I am absolutely furious right now. My family and friends showed up at a Special O basketball shoot out fundraiser with my daughter ready to play, and they told us she could not play because she didn't participate in 50% of the practices last spring. Well, I am pretty sure she did (we missed two weeks because THEY SCREWED UP HER PAPERWORK AND WOULD NOT LET HER PRACTICE!!!) and we went to every tournament.. Even if she didn't, I called Michael Lara to let them know that my daughter wanted to participate in the fundraiser, and to let me know what we needed to do to sign up. I told him if i did not hear from them that I would assume that all we needed to do was show up. AND OF COURSE THEY NEVER CALLED ME!!!!

We got there, are told only at that minute that my daughter can't play, and OF COURSE she doesn't understand why and is totally heartbroken. She has been looking forward to this all year. They could have let me know in advance so I could have prepared her. This, in my view, was both cruel and unfair, and an example of how the SLO staff really has no understanding of the people they are supposed to serve. At best they are incompetent, and at worst they are callous and uncaring.
