The youngest members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Texas are enrolled in the Early Learning Program at either Texas Preparatory School or the Mitchell Center Unit. Our members enjoy everything this program has to offer from the hours of 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. all year-round. The program reinforces the academic and school engagement of young people during the time they spend at the Club. This strategy is based on research demonstrating that students do much better in school when they spend their non-school hours engaged in fun, but academically beneficial activities. The Mitchell Center Unit offers a safe and enriched environment that allows each child to grow at his or her own pace intellectually, emotionally, socially, physically and spiritually. The Mitchell Center offers children a wide variety of early literature experiences through the state of the art curriculum. In addition to early literacy, we offer children the hands-on experiences of science, nature, art, music and technology based activities.
