Pecan Park in San Marcos, Texas is not family friendly and the owners of this park are not respectful to the guests.

Here are some examples of the treatment of guests at this park:

1. We camped here in early July and had the campers near us ejected from the park at 11:00 pm because their grandchildren (ages around 6 – 8) were doing sparklers by the river. The guy on the golf cart called the owner and the owner was screaming and yelling at our camping neighbors (paying guests) and called the sheriff’s department. It was a very sad situation for the poor children who left crying and traumatized. As we all watched them pack their campsite we talked with the sheriff department and were advised THIS HAPPENS ON A REGULAR BASIS, but because it is private property they have no choice but to make sure the campers leave. By the way, this was the SECOND time the police had shown up in 2 days. During the time that the “Sparkler” offenders were packing up, there were other campers that began setting off large fireworks down by the river and these campers were not ejected, but simply told not to do that again. When we questioned the “night security” golf cart guy, why they were not ejected we were told it was the owner’s decision on who gets ejected.

2. There is an abandoned home on the property that is open with no warning signs or security tape and children in the park were running through this home the entire weekend that we were camping in early July. I understand that there was a flood at the end of May, 2015, but the home should have been secured for the protection of the guests. There was also debris lying outside the home and the steps down to the river were very dangerous.

3. The previous year when we camped here we were told to turn off all electronic devices at 10:30 pm and we could only whisper. There is a guy on a golf cart that rides around the park and gets onto all of the guests about this. We even had other campers ask if the golf cart “night security” guy was picking on our campsites. Apparently it is obvious to other campers that there was unfair treatment going on. They do not even tolerate an acoustic guitar being strummed quietly. BUT on July 4, 2014 the park owners showed a movie on the hillside inside the park grounds. The name of the movie was “The Transformers” and this movie was blaring quite loudly until around 11:00 p.m. We questioned the fact that they were even allowed to show this movie in a public venue considering the copy right laws in place. I don’t really understand how they can break their own rules, but paying guests cannot even have an evening of playing games at the campsite that they paid money to reserve.

If you want to sleep your vacation away and don’t have children – try it, but if you want to enjoy your family and friends and play games and sing songs and stay up past 10:30 I would pass on this park.

This year I chose a park that was rated a 9 but in my opinion it is no more than a 5. I stayed at Pecan Park in San Marcos, Texas, the park was dirty and had no slabs for RV’s to park on. The owners are crooks, I booked my site last September from October 27th to March 27th and received a confirmation of $289.20 for my complete stay. In mid-February, all the Snowbirds were informed that our rates would be going up to $450.00 and higher on March 1st. Spring break was only 3 weeks away and they knew no one would find a park with space in another park and to head north was not an option because of the massive amounts of snow. All the campers who came back after the flood or arrived after the flood worked hard every day to get the park back in shape. These are also the ones who were shafted by the early rate increase. I know 17 trailers that go there every year will not be returning.

It was also rated the bathrooms were a 9.5 but, they do not have heat and it has been a very cold winter in Texas. The owner tells people the heat pump is broken in the main bathroom but there is no heat pump. The owners put portable heaters in the second bathroom that looks like a cottage but the breakers could not handle the power. There is no chair or bench to put your stuff on while you shower. There is no counter space for your supplies while using the sink. I would give the washrooms a 3.

The 2 laundry rooms are a definite problem. The washers take forever to fill up, one of the machines took 9 minutes to fill because of lack of pressure and therefore leave cloths full of soap. The dryers do not work properly and the owner’s solution is to kick it and the small laundry room smells of leaking propane. There are no racks or hooks to hang cloths on when they come out of the dryer. I give the laundry a 3

The pool and hot tub are disgusting and need to be drained and scrubbed. The scum on the tiles is enough to keep you out. It does not look very health and I have never seen such a dirty pool so that’s another 3

Also there is no Frisbee Golf and the horseshoe pits are not maintained.

elitist snobs

I went to this park paid my first month moved my perfectly good rv over there and was told as I was setting up you can't stay here because your r.v. was a fema trailer. This is not fair and the overweight woman who told me this was very snobish and rude in doing so. I paid 10,000 dollars for this r.v. and it's cery nice. These people that run this park are rude and very mean. Don't stay here it's a ripoff and the park is prone to flooding. Two weeks ago they had 4 and one half feet of water in the park some people lost everything .
