The San Mateo Police Department offers an array of patrol, investigation and other support services. Its patrol unit has more than 55 uniformed officers who provide hostage negotiation and field training services. The department s investigation division handles robbery, homicide, child pornography, burglary and sexual assault cases. The San Mateo Police Department maintains a dispatch team that processes over 100,000 service calls each year. It also processes more than 5,000 police reports and supplements, over 300 new warrants and nearly 600 pieces of mail.
