Provided by YP.comWe completed a solar project on our home in June. It works great and we love it. It was also very expensive. We paid all of our savings for this and was looking forward to future utility savings. We just got notified that Platt Electric has filed a mechanics lien on our home because they say they haven't been paid by the installer who we contracted with. The installer says that there is an account dispute between them and Platt electric. In the meantime we have a lien on our house for a system that we have already paid for. For any of my friends who do an expensive project on their home please make sure that you use a licensed contractor (verify this on www.dopl.utah.gov) and keep a copy of the signed contract and a copy proving payment in full. Luckily for us we have done this but I have spent hours of time working on this and I still need to figure out how to get the lien removed. What a waste of time. If I ever do another project I will not pay the contractor until I have proof that all subcontractors are paid and all suppliers are paid. I am really annoyed that a supplier would extend credit to "their" client and then make me responsible for collections. I just want you all to pay attention if you ever do any large projects.
