Horrible! Horrible! Horrible!
Most staff members were lazy and lacked any kind of empathy towards their patients.
There was very little communication between shifts which resulted in poor treatment towards their patients.
The medical staff was antiquated and non compliant with my primary care physician's orders.
They never wanted to address my needs or complaints of my quality of care that I received.
I felt completely isolated from others.
My safety was of paramount importance to me.
Most of the night staff were doing what little they could do to get by resulting in poor quality of care.
What could have taken a couple of minutes with help to get into bed for the night, took about 45 minutes with exhaustion and pain as a result of no assistance whatsoever.
The nurses kept injecting me with insulin because it was on a surgeon's order. My blood sugar was controlled through diet alone. I refused having my blood sugar tested 4 times a day towards the end if my stay. The blood sugar was always within a normal range when tested.
I finally refused care and discharged myself from their care.
The day nurse had the gall to hand me syringes and insulin with other meds. She refused to take the insulin back and syringes.
So, I hurled them into the trash in front of her.
Having major surgery in and of itself is very traumatic physically and emotionally.
The experience I had there was a complete nightmare.
It was very traumatic for me because I was treated like less than a human being should ever be treated. It was very demeaning to my welfare and I will never recommend this hole in a wall to anyone needing post operative care before returning home.
Again, a horrible, horrible place!
