Dr. Douglas Mackenzie is a Board Certified plastic surgeon and performs plastic surgery procedures involving breast enhancement, body contouring, hand surgery, advanced surgical pain relief and facial rejuvenation. Dr. Mackenzie does most of his aesthetic surgery procedures on-site at South Coast Surgery Center in Santa Barbara, while reconstructive procedures are done at both South Coast Surgery Center and Goleta Cottage Hospital. Dr. Mackenzie has used pain pumps for years to help minimize the post-operative pain of certain procedures like breast augmentation which can be particularly uncomfortable. He has also been involved in clinical research on a sustained release non-narcotic medication for postoperative pain, which came to market as Exparel in April 2012.
