KKUP-FM, located in Santa Clara, Calif., is a nonprofit organization that is run by the subscriptions of listeners. All the employees at the radio station work for free. The station is an all volunteer, community-based radio station providing musical, informational and educational alternatives to its listening audience. The 24-hour radio station offers a wide range of music, such as comical, classical, reggae, new age, oldies, world music, bluegrass, blues and gospel music. It also airs information on local issues, philosophy, and vintage radio and poetry. The station has a potential audience of more than 2 million people covering areas of San Francisco, the East Bay to Salinas and south to Monterey Bay in California.
