Gateway School is an independent school, located in Santa Cruz, Calif., offers classes from grades kindergarten through eight. Founded in 1970, it offers a comprehensive and integrated curriculum, including core academic subjects, such as language arts, social studies, science and mathematics, as well as special programs in the arts, including music, and visual and theater arts, Spanish language and culture, life lab science, technology, communication, and physical education. It provides an after school team sports program and meets the developmental needs of young adolescents in grades six through eight with specialty teachers, community service and diverse electives, including theater, rock climbing and wood-working. It is accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools.
