I met with this accountant last fall, seeking help with my taxes. I discussed what I needed, then asked what it would cost. She gave me a dollar amount. We proceeded through until the taxes were done in April, and then I received a bill nearly 5 TIMES the amount I had been quoted. When I called to ask what was going on, she told me the price she had given me was "for the projection only", which she did not specify at the time. She also said that according to her notes, she had told me about the increased cost. According to my notes and my memory, she did not - and I would have remembered being told that the service was going to cost many hundreds of dollars more than I had originally been quoted. When I asked if there was someone I could complain to, or some way I could resolve this, I was told there was no sort of escalation policy at the firm.If I had known the true amount it would cost, I would not have used her services. They certainly were not worth the final cost.
