Youth Shelters and Family Services (YSFS) delivers life-changing services to homeless, runaway, and in-crisis youth in northern New Mexico by providing shelter and addressing health, safety, education, and workforce opportunities so they may lead independent and meaningful lives. In the last fiscal year (2014 - 2015), YSFS served 1,187 youth and family members through five programs and one focused initiative, which include: Youth Emergency Shelter -A 24-hour shelter with a full range of services, including access to education, tutoring and case management for ages 10-17 who are in crisis and need a safe place to stay. Located at 5686 Agua Fria Street, Building A. Transitional Living Program - A supervised apartment setting for homeless youth, ages 17-24, including pregnant and parenting teens. Youth gain education, workforce skills and life skills so they can move out on their own and become independent, fully contributing members of society. Located at 4435 Airport Rd. Street Outreach Program - Provides street-based critical services such as food, water and blankets to youth up to age 21 with nowhere to go. Street Outreach also has a home-like Drop-In Center where youth go to get warm, take a shower, and receive the supportive services they need to leave the streets. Located at 402 S. St. Francis Dr. Community Counseling Center - Professional counseling for youth in every program, their families, and community members. Many are homeless, at risk for becoming homeless, or are otherwise in crisis. Located at 5686 Agua Fria Street, Building B. Established in 1996. Access! Training and Education Community Collaborative - Workforce, mentoring, and education opportunities for youth, ages 14-24, who have had juvenile justice involvement. Located at 3205 Richards Lane, Suite A. Established in 2014. Pregnant and Parenting Youth Initiative - Provides safety, stability and wellness for young families, including pregnant and parenting teens, through housing and other assistance. Workshops and classes are offered on topics such as nutrition, health, child development, domestic violence and pregnancy prevention. Located at 5686 Agua Fria Street, Building B. Established in 2006.
