Pretty damn-good food, althoug...

Pretty damn-good food, although not mind-blowing. I'm a big Top Chef fan and I especially enjoyed watching Stefan compete (perhaps my expectations were unfairly high), which is why I was nothing but excited to try one of his restaurants. I was more than pleasantly surprised to see how reasonable the prices are; thank god!

My mother and I ordered several of the small plate dishes ($3 a piece) which are about two to three bites each. Each small plate was delicious! We tried the chilled cucumber soup with smoked salmon (very refreshing, but they forgot to put on the smoked salmon), the fois gras (large portion considering it was only $3 and it was the good stuff!), the oyster (bland, but still decent), and the Truffle Arancini (MUST HAVE little fried risotto ball!!; so yummy I could have eaten 20 of these rather than get my entree!).

For appetizers we got the White Asparagus soup and then also the Duet of Crudo (tuna and hamachi). The soup was so to die for, the crudo I could have done without as you could find it in any half decent sushi restaurant. For our entrees my mother got Stefan's deconstructed Chicken Pot Pie and let me tell you that we love chicken pot pie and this was hands down the best one I've ever had; perfectly seasoned, creamy with big chunks of chicken and vegetables (we could just never tell my father that we paid $22 for a chicken pot pie). I had the scallops with corn puree and I enjoyed it thoroughly; scallops were perfectly cooked, corn puree was delicious, and the fried parsnips on top was the optimal piece of the taste puzzle to tie it all together.

The only thing that I was disappointed with was dessert :( We ordered the apple beignet and it was NOT a beignet. But let me clarify that the flavor of the dessert itself was great, it just was more of a baked apple than a beignet (a bit misleading).

Service was great, restaurant is a great space and nice setting. We'll be trying a couple different things next time, but we will definitely be going back.
