All banks are nothing but Robin hoods in reverse. Prey on the poor whom have more expenses than they do income, charge them fees for their unfortunate circumstances, then take that money and reward the rich who have always had money in their account. I, for one, would like to say to all low-income families: no bank will ever respect you - not online banks, not sdccu not anyone, unless you're doing well financially. They are a service for keeping your money and if you don't have money, they won't service you well. I have recently chosen to use a cash-only method with a pre-paid debit card not associated with any bank for all places that don't accept cash. This method is FREE of fees!!! Truly FREE!!!

What irritates me the most, $1 overdrawn and SDCCU charges $27!! $27 for each transaction, no matter what the amount was!! For some charges, that's WELL over 100% mark up! This should be illegal!!!! Why can't SDCCU adopt a percentage of the amount overdrawn instead of a set amount? $27 may seem like a low amount to the bank and probably most of it's employees, but for folk like me, $27 means putting food on the table for 1/2 a week! I know I make mistakes I sometimes can't avoid, but that's a terrible punishment. My fees are double of what I need to bring my account current.

I want to close my accounts badly, I want nothing more to do with any bank, but I can't afford the fees to bring my account current to do so. This bank has done nothing but threaten to ding my already bad credit, which at this point I can do nothing about. My financial situation has slowly been getting worse since the start of my disabilities; I've had to sell many prized possessions to keep my head above water. At this point, who cares if I have to go cash method the rest of my life? SDCCU can ding my terrible credit all they want thinking that's a suitable punishment for being unable to afford a bank account, but they're the ones suffering the negative balance and an unhappy customer.

I pleaded with them to please help me with the fees, I will bring my account current and then leave for good but they provided no help, just made me more frustrated than before. How greedy and prideful of them to not help a disabled customer thinking it's better to attack their already bad credit, attach more fees to their mistake than it is to erase a few fees, get money for the negative balances and keep a happy customer though the account would be closed. I was hoping to be on good standing in the case I might need to come back when my financial situation is better but SDCCU has done nothing but leave an incredibly bitter taste in my mouth. The regional manager was supposed to contact me to see if he can help any way.... never called.

Not a happy customer.
