Jonathan D Kunis brings over 30 years of education, training and personal experience to the new and expanding practice of addiction medicine. He is certified by the American Board of Addiction Medicine, the American Board of Internal Medicine, and the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is a Certified Addiction Professional and a member of both the American Society and Florida Society of Addiction Medicine. Jonathan is a graduate of New York Medical College, served six years in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, and has worked in the private sector as an internist and anesthesiologist before life on life’s terms and destiny introduced him to the specialty of addiction medicine. Dr. Kunis has lived in Manatee County for over nineteen years. He was most recently the Medical Director of Hazelden in Naples, Florida and prior to that, served as the Assistant Medical Director of HealthCare Connection of Tampa, both residential treatment facilities for chemical dependence and co-occurring psychiatric disorders. It is Dr. Kunis’ goal and vision to provide a comprehensive, office based, outpatient treatment program for those addicted to alcohol and drugs that will be state of the art, evidence based and provided on an individual basis with compassion, empathy, dignity and respect.
