how we were treated.

My husband is in the Navy, and as a lot of Navy guys do, we went through Jeffrey to find our house to live in for the six months that we would be in NY. We had three other roommates, and the five of us needed a furnished four bedroom house asap. We met Mr. Brown at his office, and he drove us to one house. The house, needed work to say the least. There was wall paper that dated back to the sixties, carpet that probably hadn't been cleaned since the wall paper was replaced, and at least one piece of broken furniture in each room. But we were pushed for time. It was already six in the evening and we wouldnt have anywhere to stay for the weekend. Jeffrey obviously wanted us to hurry up with our selection, and said, "This place is great because with so many young guys living here, you wont have to worry about if you spill something on the carpet, or break something."

We went ahead and took the house, only to learn later the extent of our mistake. The house was old, and falling apart, but we worked with it for six months.

When it was finally time to move out, one of the guys girlfriend, and I spent hours cleaning up the house to make sure that we would all get our security deposit back. We had an appointment on Saturday, for Jeffrey to come inspect our house to make sure we left it as good as we got it... We had already, by Friday made it better than we had gotten it. However, even though it was cleaner, all of our stuff was still in the house on Friday, since none of us were fully packed up. Mr. Brown decided to stop by, an entire day early, which none of would have minded his surprise visit, had he not have been so rude to us. He made a point to walk around the house and tell us what all still needed to be done, but the way he said everything to us was completely inappropriate. We were not little children who needed to be scolded, although that was the tone he was using.

He left, and after we all laughed it off, we finished packing and cleaning. My husband and i left later that day, on our way back home for his leave time. One roommate and his girlfriend stayed to clean any thing we may have missed and for the inspection the next day since they didnt have as far of a drive that we did.

The next day i called the girlfriend to ask how it went, apparently she had just gotten herself calmed down.
She told me that Mr. Brown went through the house and told her it was filthy and that we were not getting the deposit back. He told her that we needed to shampoo the carpets (which for the record were not close to clean when we moved in, although M. Brown insisted that they had been shampooed just days before we rented the house), and scrub everything again because there was no way we should have considered it clean. He then proceeded to the microwave, where he said that was unclean as well. She had had enough of his rude tone and finally said that it was fine, and she had cleaned it out herself. Mr. Brown searched around in the microwave for a few moments when he found a crumb of food we had missed. "I dont call this clean!" he yelled at her as he flicked the speck of food at her face.

Fortunately for us, one of the guys could stay an extra few days to wait for the maintenance man to come look at the house for the landlord, since our landlord lived in VA, and did not believe Mr. Brown when he called him to say we had destroyed the house. The maintenance man went though the house and shook his head and told my roommate not to worry, the house was better than fine, and he would not let Mr. Brown convince our landlord that he should keep our deposits.

I would not recommend Mr. Jeffrey Brown to anyone who is interested in renting, or buying. If he would try to take advantage of four men in the service, because he knows they are pressed for time, and usually cant wait around an extra few days, and will just pay the extra money to have stuff done, then who is to say he has respect for anyone at all?
