Does not stand by his work

We purchased a home built by this company. Closed on the property June 2016. At closing builder stated all items on the punch list would be completed. As of today they aren't. I'm told legally there isn't anything we can do about it. 2 months after purchase the roof leaked. Ruined flooring and walls. Builder kept putting things off. By the time he attempted to really do anything to rod us of the issue, there was black mold and mildew in the walls and under flooring. Nothing was done by builder to contain the mold until after we had already sealed the areas off and expressed our concerns (almost a week after the mold was exposed).

Builder asked us to allow insurance company in do they could file a claim on their behalf. We were not concerned about how they recovered their funds, as long as the repairs were completed properly and I a timely manner.

Builder and their insurance company tried to force us to sign an absolute waiver regarding this repair and any future repairs (which should be covered under the first year warranty). We refused to sign the waiver and asked for it to be mortified. They refused. Since that time, the builder appears to have gone out of business, refusing to return any emails or calls regarding the remainder of warranty covered repairs.

I spoke with the project manager, Josh Waters. He advised he was no longer able to assist us, he had resigned from the company.

2-10 Warranty states we can't file a complaint against the repairs not being completed (even those we provided the list to the builder in early April) until July 15th, 2017. They advise the builder didn't send it to them until May 15th, 2017. We have to give the builder 60 days from they date they gave it to them.

We have a new home that has issues a 5 to 10 year old home would have. Green Choice Custom Builders will give a bunch of excuses. He were told by the builder, he wasn't responsive at one point because his wife was divorcing him. Later we were told his father in law was sick with cancer.

By the way, to get the roof leak fixed, we had to hire our own engineer to figure out the cause and describe how to properly fix it. We find out the engineer Jeff Schofield hired want going to suggest anything other than what Jeff had requested.

Don't use this company or any business owned by Jeff Schofield in the Savannah area. He doesn't stand by his work or warranties.
