The Schertz Police Department operates a dispatch and communication center that responds to emergency and nonemergency calls, as well as provides communication services to various federal agencies. The department supports the Explorer Program, which is a worksite-based program for youths between the ages of 14 and 20. The Schertz Police Department also maintains a citizens police academy that provides programs and services for crime prevention in association with residents.
