We do not recommend Dr. Glonek. We had a really bad experience at Dr. Glonek’s office: deceptive billing practice, questionable ethics. The main concern for these people is to squeeze money from you when you are vulnerable and worried about your child and do not have a full picture to decide whether treatment is actually needed and how much you’ll end up paying for it. The office manager lacks professionalism and integrity to make it clear for the patients that Dr. Glonek is not contracted with the patient’s insurance. My child came to the office for vision therapy. Right at the first session we asked if our child had a diagnosis to justify this therapy as true medical necessity. Dr. Glonek reassured us that it was a medical necessity. His stuff told us that they would bill our insurance and if the treatment would not be paid in full, we would get a discounted rate. We came for several weekly sessions. Every time, when asked about a response from the insurance, the office manager responded that they have submitted the paperwork but did not hear anything back. The office manager kept reassuring us that all seemed OK, the only problem was that the insurance was slow to respond, she suggested that we just keep going and keep paying our $50 co-pays for now. After 6 or so sessions the treatment was abruptly stopped by the doctor’s office. The reason they gave us was that they got concerned about insurance being too slow to respond. Soon we found that not only Dr. Glonek was not a provider for our insurance but also that the whole “medical necessity” was being questioned by the insurance

Here is the summary of these visits: 1.Therapy interrupted. They never expressed concern about how it may affect patient’s vision. It makes you think about whether this therapy was actually a medical necessity for the patient . 2.The office manager in our opinion led us to believe that this service will be at least partially covered by the insurance. It was never revealed to us they were not even contracted with our insurance and that there was no possibility for any coverage from the very beginning. Had we been told that, we could have stopped after our initial visit and look elsewhere. 3.The office makes you sign a standard paperwork at the very beginning that you are responsible for the amount not covered by the insurance. Then they let you go on and on, collect co pays and then you are left with a big and possibly inflated bill as the office can charge pretty much any amount they feel like.4.In our opinion the bill is inflated because each session cost about $180. This according to the office manager is already discounted rate per session. Each session was about 30 minutes long; most of them were conducted by doctor’s assistant. Nice lady but not a doctor, possibly no medical education, not sure. The child was sitting at the computer playing visual therapy games; the assistant was recording results and was changing computer exercises. 5.We tried to discuss this bill with the office manager and informed her that if it is not reassessed we would go ahead and complaint to the Board of Optometry. She right away turned quite nasty and told us that it would be futile as Dr. Glonek is Board Member or Chairman, or something to this effect. She was right, it was futile, the complaint was dismissed 6.We started paying installments but Dr. Glonek’s office sent us a letter demanding immediate payment in full threatening to send us to collections if we don’t pay within several days and also threatening to revoke a “discount” in other words inflating the rate.

We would like people considering Dr. Glonek’s services to be aware of our negative experience and to be very careful from the very first visit. After you sign a consent to pay, Dr. Glonek’s office is free to bill you for whatever and as much as they see appropriate.
