The Tournament Players Club of Scottsdale was designed as the stage for the FBR Open, the largest spectator event on the PGA Tour. Each year, more than 500,000 fans come to the club to see the tournament. Set in the Sonoran Desert and surrounded by the McDowell Mountains, the TPC of Scottsdale, a PGA Tour facility, embodies the standards of excellence set forth by the design team of Tom Weiskopf and Jay Morrish. Its Stadium Course has been the site of some historic moments in professional golf, including 21-year-old Tiger Woods hole-in-one on the par-3 16th in 1997 and Mark Calcavecchia's PGA Tour record 72-hole score of 256 in 2001.
