I stumbled upon this new gem while traveling up 9th Ave N in South Lake Union. It is a new Ace Hardware store on the corner of Harrison Street, but apparently independently owned and operated (according to the mission statement postered on the wall next to the store entrance - a nice touch). The store is well-organized, and has tons of stuff for a relatively small store (relative to the big boxes, that is). They are a Benjamin Moore Paints store as well; my favorite in paint! The biggest stand out was the customer service: I was greeted with a friendly "hello" when I walked in and asked what they could help me find. I was then walked to the item in the store - not just pointed to or told an aisle number - another nice touch! This place is great, fun and dog friendly. They even offered me a free bag of freshly popped popcorn while I was walking about the store. This might just become my favorite new neighborhood store.
