SuperSonics and Storm are two basketball teams based in Seattle. The Basketball Club of Seattle has sold its NBA Seattle SuperSonics and WNBA Seattle Storm to the Professional Basketball Club, an Oklahoma City-based investment group. Since joining the NBA for the 1967-68 season, the Sonics have had many highlights in their history, including consecutive trips to the NBA Finals in 1978 and 1979, culminating the second time in their first NBA Championship. They have won four division titles in five years in the 1990s and a return to the 1996 NBA Finals. SuperSonics and Storm will continue to be based in Seattle for a few years.
