The Seattle's Convention and Visitors Bureau is a nonprofit economic development agency that is responsible for marketing the Seattle area as a destination for conventions, tour groups and individual travelers. Founded in 1956 as a part of the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce, it is an independently operated agency. The agency works with a team of more than 50 full- and part-time staff members. The Seattle's Convention and Visitors Bureau s marketing services division works to communicate messages to customers and clients in various market segments, through Internet presence, advertising campaigns and brand themes. The agency also operates tourism development and public relations divisions.
