Music lessons with Orion is a unique experience that you will not find from any other music teacher. Orion's goal is to help one learn how to create their own music, express their own ideas right from the start, and to help people figure out how to play music with other musicians by ear. There is no experience required in order to begin improvising and writing songs. There is structure that he offers including music theory and helping students learn songs that they are interested in learning. He will help students gain an understanding of music theory in a way to help them to be set free. The ultimate goal however is to use these concepts as framework to be able to create their own music and come up with their own ideas He works with a wide variety of ages and experience mainly on the piano. Usually his youngest students are around 8 but he is willing to make exceptions if the student desires and will benefit from this style of lesson. He can work with youth and adults who already have experience but would like to lean in this particular style or who have never touched the piano in their life. His only requirement is that his students have the determination and desire to take their time on the piano seriously. Orion's main goals are to help people learn how to create/compose, improvise, and play music with other musicians by ear. Music theory, sight reading and memorization come later on in lessons, once somebody has a foundation and understanding of how to work with music in a more personal way. Once a student has developed a relationship with music and can channel the music from within, then knowing how to communicate with other musicians with music theory, written music and memorization can be applied. Learning music in this style is like embarking on a never ending path. Therefore the final destination is not the goal, instead it is about having determination, a since of direction and confidence in every step along the way. Orion is a resource for his students to give directions, guidance, to answer questions and to encourage. He can not take a single sep for one of his students, or carry them. From at least two decades of experience, he knows the path very well and knows how to guide his students to bridges and tunnels that would otherwise be very difficult to cross. Students must to be willing to do the work and take the trail themselves. As a result, instead of walking away from music lessons only with songs memorized, and the ability to read music just as written, his student will know how to improvise, compose, and jam in any song, any key, with any style. Students will still gain knowledge of how to use music theory and reading music in a way that can be applicable to their own direct experience.
