With a location in Selma, Ala., the Highway Patrol Division is a law enforcement division that is a part of the Alabama Department of Public Safety. The department is a statewide law enforcement agency that protects human lives and property by enforcing state laws, deterring criminal activity, and ensuring highway and public safety. The Highway Patrol Division also offers services for aerial speed and construction zone traffic enforcement. The division has an honor guard that marches in parades, conducts funerals for officers and their family members and attends funerals for area officers killed in the line of duty. In addition, it operates motor carrier safety and highway emergency units.
