DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS S...

DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THIS STORE! Listen to what others are trying to tell you.

I wrote a review back in Jan, 2012 and as you can see, someone responded back the same day calling me a liar. Funny, how quickly that person responded back - as if they had a personal interest in Atlas Appliance. The only thing I will tell potential customers is that you have been forewarned. I was also forewarned and chose to ignore the warning. The owner sold my friend a stove and assured them that they would receive a new one - not the one that had been sitting on the showroom floor. Our friend made a mark on the stove so he could identify it - and sure enough, the one delivered was the one on the showroom floor. I knew he was a liar and still chose to believe him - a stupid decision to believe him.

The rude response that another person posted about the owner not wanting their old stuff since they had already purchased new ones elsewhere sounds just like the person who lied to me about the age of the frig. Take note of the number of reviews - 9. Five gave one star reviews (only because you have to give one star to submit a review) and four gave five star reviews - none in between which should tell you something. Two of the five star reviews were written on the same day by two (?) different people and two were written in response to my post. One of those post claims to be a customer that was in the store that same day. There was no other customer in the store when my husband, the police officer, and I went in to confront the owner. This same individual asked whether we had paid the first company for service on our appliance. That was not even talked about on that day - why would it be? I mentioned to Bob during my first visit to the store that the other company had taken a part to get a price for repair - and called back to tell us it would be $500. HE was the one that told me I shouldn't pay them. I told him if they were correct in the diagnosis even if it was a highly inflated price, then we owed the service call (which we did mail the day I bought the frig from Atlas. The individual (I'm sure the owner) also asked why I gave Atlas my frig to repair - because Bob assured me he could repair it for $350 and since we had been talking about getting a second frig for our garage we decided to invest the $350 in our side by side stainless steel. We later invested $500 to have the first company repair it - which on top of the service call ended up costing us even more (if we had done it immediately there would have been no service charge).

It cost me $100 to find out the owner is a liar and a cheat. What will it cost you?? You can certainly buy an appliance here and deal with whatever follows but you can't say you haven't been forewarned. There are too many reputable places to purchase appliances. I bought one for our rental at Sears Outlet and am extremely happy with it. I paid a little less than $600 for a new Maytag refrigerator - which means it has a lot of life left.

We purchased a washer from Atlas hoping to get something that simply ran....overpriced, but at least I was going to have a running washer. Day 1, the washer was jumping and skipping a beat when spinning. I called, let them know and they offered to replace the washer with another however ended up giving me a more expensive and broken washer. I called and let the owner know I was having issues as it flooded my garage twice and was no longer spinning within 20 days of having the washer. Initially they said they would send someone immediately and someone was on the way. After 2 hours, I called in to see if they were going to make it over this morning, or if I could get a time range so I could plan my day (I have 2 little ones and some errands to run, like going to the laundromat because the washer broke...). He then got an attitude, said that we can just wait til they get time to make it over. We explained we were not pushing. However just needed a timeline so we could make arrangements and he came back telling us that he has been in busing 50 years and we were not a priority. After some back and forth, he hung up on us. I drove over to let him know I was not intending to argue or get snippy, but just needed to know a range of time to ensure someone could be home...or to get a partial refund for the washers that broke and he again repeated he had been in business for decades and nobody will tell him what to do or say he has an attitude..I am not sure how I kept it together at that point, but at that point I said sir, that was not the intention, I just was inquiring about a range of time. He said well you should have not said I had an attitude, and as I explained to him it was my wife who actually spoke to him he rolled his eyes, got angry (making it very obvious his disapproval that I was married to a woman) and said I'm not doing anything for you. Call a lawyer. Crooks and bigots they are.

I've been to Atlas many times for parts for my stove [1960's] and always found what I needed. When my 19 yr old fridge started acting up, a gentleman came out to give me a price on repair. The guy was helpful..showed me where the fridge to freezer area was icing up [behind plastic cover in the freezer] and I could just keep clearing it. Also pointed out a bad spot in the door seal..letting the moist air in. Said if I wanted to come check out models they had, to stop by the store. No pressure or scare tactics. I got a great deal at Sears. Called and asked if they [Atlas]wanted the old fridge. The person on the phone said they'd gladly take it. and came within the hour..It's a great place for hard to find parts.

I called and spoke with a gentleman last week about purchasing some old appliances that were removed from a home. This person seemed pleasant and advised he would come by on May 18th to give me a price. Since they were a no show I decided to call on May 20th and see if they wanted to try and come by later in the week. The owner cut me off and immediately asked if I had already purchased new appliances. When I told him we had, he became upset and stated, "We don't wont your stuff". This classy guy then hung up the phone. I would highly recommend you go somewhere else if this is the way they conduct business. Reminds me of a 10 year old that just had his feelings hurt.

Dont go to Atlas

I bought a dryer motor from Atlas recently and the entire experience that followed was a waste of my time. I was given a motor that did not have the same shaft dimensions as the old one, parts that did not fit, and a second motor that burnt up within 15 seconds of turning it on. I could have pulled better parts from the scrapyard. I will never recommend this store to anyone.
