In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am - we've got something for everyone. Enjoy your meal in our family-friendly, cabin-themed diner with our welcoming staff or order to enjoy in the comfort of your home.

Service is bad - food is cold and not very good - poorly managed - When you try to talk to them about it they blame it on you or don’t seem to understand what the problem is.
Eat somewhere else! The Black Bear Diner Mothership should abandon this franchise.

Black Bear Diner was AWFUL! It was so cold there, we sat there with our coats on. My dad had the hot open meatloaf sandwich w/ mashed potatoes and gravy. The gravy was cold and so thick it looked like pudding. The meatloaf was awful, bits of green and orange "things" in it. The bread was stale and the food was lukewarm. Mom and I had cheeseburgers and they fell apart as we were eating them. The waitress was so sweet, but she can't help the food. $11 for a really bad meatloaf sandwich? If you want large portions of crappy food, give Black Bear a try. Otherwise, go to McDonalds, the food is better.
