The Public Works department, governed by the City of Seward in Alaska, is responsible for the maintenance and rehabilitation of infrastructure in the city. It operates street, shop, water, sewer, and snow and ice divisions. The department also administers a community center and municipal buildings. The Public Works department maintains more than 30 miles of paved and unpaved roads. It operates a library and fire hall. The department is also responsible for the maintenance of over 25 miles of water distribution main lines. It also administers building and engineering and parks and recreation departments.
