The owner/director Joan is completely and utterly the most disrespectful rude person I have ever met. At first she seems nice and sweet, but wait for it... this is all fake. She is a complete monster, I cannot find words to describe her, she has no business running a childcare center. My toddler’s class has 3 teachers in the mornings, every time I drop him off, all 3 of them are sitting at the desk chatting with each other, not even looking in the direction of the kids, never mind trying to interact with them. The kids are running wild around the room completely unsupervised. Oh, and let me add, in June of 2018, this center was DISCIPLINED BY THE STATE OF NJ FOR A TEACHER PICKING UP AN INFANT BY THE HEAD!!! I’m sorry, what?! The teachers are untrained, unqualified, and probably unhappy. Children are not safe here.

By far THE WORST daycare I have looked into. I had gone in there for a tour and noticed the staff dressed in sweats, not very professional at all. The owner was VERY rude and disrespectful as was most staff. While on tour and peeking into classrooms I saw children of all ages in their classrooms running around like animals with no direction given. The teachers were sitting at their desks on their phones/ipads. Children were barely being looked after. The infants were all over, climbing on top of each other, the wall to the play pen, were left in their cribs being payed no attention. I also heard A LOT of vulgar language during my visit. Staff should NOT be speaking like that around children especially ones susceptible to repeating everything they hear. i will most definitely be bringing my children to this facility. I advise anyone who cares about their children to not send them here!!!!!!

We Love Beacon Academy

My infant son attends Beacon Academy and I am thrilled with the care he receives. The staff is kind, compassionate,

and cares for my child as if he were a part of their family. He is played with and read to all day. When I pick him up he smells delicious, is well fed, and is always smiling. I can see how comfortable he is in the hands of each of the Infant Room's staffs arms. He loves them!! We could not be happier!!!

Not as Perfect as It Looks

At first glance I fell in love with this facility. Unfortunately, my experience once I enrolled my infant son proved that all is not what it seems. There is no primary caregiver for your infant and so anyone in the infant room can look after your child. This is not a good thing and after what happened to me I wish I could have asked for a specific person. One particular morning I dropped him off. He was still taking an antihistamine/antitrussive/decongestant medication. He was still experiencing some congestion and his eyes were a bit glassy. My husband and I attributed to the allergy season as everyone in my family was sneezing and experincing symptoms. By the time I picked my son up 6-7 hours later, both his eyes were full of yellow discharge. His left eye, particularly was so full of the discharge it had dried up on his eyelashes and he was unable to keep it open. The woman who had just fed him had not been there in the morning. However, another worker had been there in the morning as well. This individual, a young lady, did not say one word to me about my son's condition. I looked at the log sheet and nothing had been written down nor was I ever called. I first contacted the pediatrician, but his office was closed at the time. I then placed my child in front of the director/owner who was at the front desk and asked her to look at the condition of my child. She was very unemotional and just said that his eyes were not red and that the mucus in his nose must have gone up towards his eyes. One of the workers at the front desk states that my son was being treated with a warm compress throughtout the day, but again no one bothered to call and no mention of it on their log book. And the director/owner was completely unaware of this. My son was diagnosed with an eye infection that evening. (His eyes were red if anyone at the center had bothered to clean him up so he could open his eyes, which the dr and I did at his office).

The next day I went into the center and spoke to the woman who had placed the warm compress on him and who had also been there the morning I dropped him off. When I inquired as to why I was not contacted she had no problems saying that it was not her job that it was the front desk who needed to contact me. ( I could not believe she even said that). She added that she felt he didn't look good in the morning, but didn't feel it was her place or again job to speak up; she's studying to be a nurse and can't give the perception that she is diagnosing. (Yet she is able to treat by placing warm compresses). I asked her why no mention of his condition on log book--no answer. All this woman was doing was placing blame on the person at the front desk on suggesting that my son's eyes may have been infected already... (This center violated their Communicable Disease Policy by not contacting me. Red eyes with discharge is clearly one of the factors in which a parent is to be called. And it is contagious.) To make matters worse after I left this woman goes to the director/owner with some story about me speaking to her as if she was a child... and how she was upset. I get a call from the director/owner yelling at me that her staff member was upset. She then proceeds to tell me that I can't bring my son in anymore. And she hangs up on me. Unbelievable! Since when did the victim become the villain? And what about my right to be upset and ask her staff questions on their policy. Well, there goes another violation to add to their list: The Expulsion Policy.

Advice: READ everything these centers give to you and hold them accountable for their actions. REPORT VIOLATIONS to the State Licensing Bureau.
