I was in need of some tires for a sudden long distance trip (funeral). These tires are difficult to get in this area especially short notice. The owner said he didn't have any new tires but said his sister had just upgraded tires on her car and the ones she took off were almost new. I said I would take a look at them if he could get them quickly. The tires looked decent especially all cleaned up. I had the tires one day before the first flat and 1 month before a blowout. I went back to see if they could help with a replacement and he said there is no warranty. He did try to sell me one of my old used tires back to me. I took the tire to another shop and they pointed out that the tires were manufactured in 2006 and were 9 years old. I take responsibility for buying used tires but I would not have bought them if I knew they were 9 years old. I trusted the tires had just came off of one of his own family members vehicle and should be sound. It is legal to sell a used tire but tire shops need to remember that families ride on these tires. I wonder if he would put these tires on one of his family members cars?
