The Sheboygan County Sheriff s Department offers law enforcement and correctional services to the public. Established in 1846, the department has more than 180 employees. It is structured into patrol, criminal investigation and support divisions, and is located in Sheboygan, Wis. The Sheboygan County Sheriff s Department s patrol division provides traffic law enforcement, road accident investigation, crime prevention and prisoner transfer services. Its criminal investigation division interviews witnesses and suspects, interrogates persons, arrests people and develops criminal reports for courts. The department also manages a dispatch center and jail. The Sheboygan County Sheriff s Department additionally operates specialized canine, bicycle patrol and crisis negotiation units.
