I have a law practice which concentrates on the needs of elders and people with disabilities. Often the needs of these two groups overlap, particularly where government benefits such as Social Security and Medicaid are involved. I am a Certified Elder Law Attorney, which means that I have met the requirements set by the National Elder Law Foundation, as approved by the American Bar Association. The requirements include having at least five years experience handling elder or disability law cases, at least 45 hours of continuing legal education during the preceding three years, passing a day-long certification exam and receiving recommendations from colleagues. My practice includes general estate planning, as well as specialized planning where a parents estate must make provisions for a disabled child. In guardianship matters, I may represent a person seeking to obtain guardianship over someone else, or the person over whom guardianship is sought.
