After my father (Carl Johnson of Cut Bank) died on June 24, 2015, the attorney (Rodney Peterson) who was originally representing his estate appeared to be behaving in an unethical manner in those regards. The best thing I ever did was to fire that attorney & hire Brian Lee. Brian was efficient and thorough; he treated me with respect, educated me regarding Montana law when applicable, and he or his staff maintained a steady line of communication with me until the estate was settled. Because I retained Brian in lieu of the original attorney, among other things, an equitable property settlement was achieved related to a quarter section of farmland that my dad made me & one of his granddaughters joint tenants of; the original attorney gave me no clue that this was an option that was open to me, & actually implied that the aforementioned granddaughter should have the entire quarter section, as I "have no children." If I had to do this all over again, the only thing I would do differently is hire Brian sooner.
