A lot of therapy is based on machines. A small portion is manual manipulation. I had really appreciated service rendered due to a neck problem. However, when I had a nasty fall and was diagnosed with lower back disk issues, the male doctor, who knew I was gay, would not touch my lower back and explained that his staff had already spent too much time on me that day - even though the place was nearly empty. I have no control over the efficiency of his staff - all of whom seem to work on multiple clients at once thus increasing the time one has to stay there. I have never been so insulted. Everyone, including the doctor, had been so kind; his homophobia came as quite a shock. It's a lower back for goodness sake - not an erogenous zone.
