We looked, unsuccesfully, for a motel in Shoshone, then asked at a service station, and they suggested The Governor's Mansion. It may be the only place for a traveler to stay, so we expected to be disappointed. Actually, however, we loved the place. We were asked in the evening what we'd like for breakfast, and got what we asked for---very well prepared. Indications were that we could have ordered "fancier" stuff (bagels and lox comes to mind, but surely there must be some sort of limit; we didn't think we ought to be the type who love to push the envelope.) The place was clean; conversation with host(s) was interesting; nobody smoked (we happened to be the only guests at the time, but there weren't stale tobacco odors, so it's probably a no-smoking place---GREAT for us.) Unfortunately we don't get to that part of Idaho very often, darn it, but when we do we will certainly go back to the Governor's Mansion!
