Located in Shreveport, La., the Office of Family Support builds and supports a team to empower families to attain self-sufficiency and ongoing independence through strategic approaches, customer-focused policies, supportive services, simplified processes and community-based solutions. The division offers child care assistance, disability determination services, family independent living assistance and strategies to empower people programs. In addition, the Office of Family Support participates in the federal Food Stamp Program for low-income households that helps them to buy the food required for good health. The Office of Family Support is comprised of more than 3,100 budgeted-classified positions, eight regional offices, 70 parish offices throughout Louisiana, 12 support enforcement service regional offices and three disability determination service area offices. It is a division of the Louisiana Department of Social Services.
