Families undergoing transitions, whether it be marital separation and divorce or care for adult children or aging parents, have difficult decisions to make. We serve as a third party neutral and provide a calm, compassionate and safe environment for you to have tough conversations about living arrangements, child care, division of property and assets, responsibility for debt, care plans and other complex issues. We work with a network of experts in finances, mental health and law so that you can get the information you need and retain control over these important decisions. Mediation is a sensible, low cost and humane alternative to legal battles over such private issues. You retain control over the outcome, not a judge. We have mediated over 500 cases and have hundreds of hours of advanced and specialized training. Ellen Kandell has been certified in a performance based process by the Maryland Council for Dispute Resolution. She is one of eight Maryland mediators to be featured on a statewide demonstration video of good practice. http://www.courts.state.md.us/macro/video.html. Finally, she served as president of the Maryland Council for Dispute Resolution, http://www.mcdr.org in 2011-2012 and is past co-chair of the Alternative Dispute Resolution section of the Montgomery County Bar Assocation.
