It is my belief that Gert from Scandinavian Service was DISHONEST and KNOWINGLY withheld information to maximize his profits at my expense. Save yourself time and money, do not use Scandinavian Services.

When you write a review, please be honest and do not take things out of context. The 1995 Onan generator was brought to us in several pieces; many parts were loose or hanging by their wires. After an extensive diagnosis, we found the starter motor was stuck against the flywheel, and as a result, would not start the generator. We did NOT say the starter motor was broken. We informed the customer that the starter motor itself is possible okay, but the starter gear might be damaged and you cannot purchase that gear separately. Labor time of the job is based on the amount of training, experience and equipment, just as it states on every single invoice. Also, don’t cherry pick old reviews from up to 12 years ago, and actually read our reviews page on our website at this link: http://www.scandinavianservice.com/reviews/ Please note the (at this time) 132, 5 star reviews. As a final note, we’re very sorry you didn’t like our service. Have a nice day Mr. Shane Robinson.

Expensive and Unable to find Root of Problem

This is a very clean and modern shop. It is run by a very polite couple team and one clerk along with a mechanic or two. My experience was very prolonged. (6 weeks). Multiple Visits. :(

I brought my Volvo S-80 in because the CHECK ENGINE light was on. After four visits and a multitude of different and very costly repairs, the CHECK ENGINE light was still on. After the 4th Visit, I went to another center (Volvo Dealer) who performed one repair and resolved the issue for a fraction of what I paid Scandinavian Service Incorporated. On the positive side, they ARE local, so I may use them again for minor repairs. Pros: Very Nice People. Clean facility. Convenient location. Cons: Unable to properly diagnosis root cause of mechanical problem. Appears understaffed. Hard to contact by phone during business hours - often goes to answering machine during the day.

Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult to find the root cause of the problem. The only thing you can do is to test each individual part to find the fault. Each part have to be inspected to the manufacturers specifications. If the part is outside the specification, the part is required to be replaced. The part that was recommended to be replaced, the customer turn down our estimate. Instead he went to another repair facility and they only had to do the rest of the diagnostic and replacement of part, the repair facility did not have to spend the time for the diagnostic, which is 90% of the work. Our facility tries very hard to do our best, especially in the difficult diagnostics. So, at the end, the part we recommended fixed the problem to the car.
