Harrisburg Explorer Elementary provides learning opportunities to students in kindergarten through grade five. The school s academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as language arts, mathematics, physical education, science and social studies. It involves students in a variety of extracurricular and athletic activities, including Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, soccer and basketball. The school offers the English Language Learners program, which includes individualized assessment, instruction and curriculum modifications in reading, writing, speaking and listening components. Its parent-teacher-student association supports various school programs and organizes fundraising events, such as Box Tops For Education, walkathons, Campbells Labels For Education and family nights. Harrisburg Explorer Elementary is located in Sioux Falls, S.D., and is a part of the Harrisburg School District, which serves more than 1,450 students in kindergarten through grade 12.
