Since the discovery of DMSO in 1867, a multitude of uses have developed for this versatile dipolar aprotic solvent. Pharmasolvent-grade DMSO is used in active pharmaceutical ingredient synthesis, while DMSO USP, Ph. Eur. is employed in drug delivery and health care applications. Enviro-S DMSO is used in catalyst sulfiding and the manufacture of ethylene, while low metals grades of DMSO, including EL10 DMSO and EL50 DMSO, are used in the electronics industry.
